What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)(A) AND (7)

THE A14 TRUNK ROAD (JUNCTION 23 GODMANCHESTER TO JUNCTION 22 BRAMPTON INTERCHANGE) AND 
THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (BRAMPTON HUT INTERCHANGE TO BRAMPTON) CAMBRIDGESHIRE (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF PROVISIONS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) has made an Order on the A14 and A1 Trunk Roads in the County of Cambridgeshire, to enable the diversion of traffic due to nearby major construction works for the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet improvement scheme to be carried out in safety. 

The temporary suspension of provisions are required to start from 00:01 hours on Sunday 7 June 2026 for approximately 10 months, traffic signs will be in place to indicate periods when the suspension is being applied.

The effect of the Order will be to –
1. suspend the prohibition of slow-moving vehicles on the –

1.1 eastbound carriageway of the A14 from the entry slip road at Junction 22 Brampton Interchange to the exit slip road at Junction 23 Godmanchester,

1.2 westbound carriageway of the A14 from the entry slip road at Junction 23 Godmanchester to the exit slip road at Junction 22 Brampton Interchange,

1.3 northbound carriageway of the A1 from 269 metres south of the B1514 underbridge at Brampton to the exit slip road at Brampton Hut Interchange,

1.4 southbound carriageway of the A1 from the entry slip road at Brampton Hut Interchange to 449 metres south of the B1514 underbridge at Brampton,

1.5 the link road connecting the westbound carriageway of the A14 with the northbound carriageway of the A1 at Brampton Interchange,

1.6 the link road connecting the southbound carriageway of the A1 at Brampton with the eastbound carriageway of the A14 at Junction 22 Brampton Interchange,

1.7 A14 eastbound exit and westbound entry slip roads at Junction 23 Godmanchester, 

1.8 A1 northbound exit and southbound entry slip roads at the A1/A141 Brampton Hut Interchange, and

1.9 A1 northbound entry slip road and southbound exit slip road at the B1514 at Brampton.

The Order will come into force on 1 June 2026 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed, or for a maximum duration of 18 months, whichever is the earlier.
