What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF LAMBETH

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984  -  SECTION 14

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS – RENFREW ROAD, WINCOTT STREET AND KEMPSFORD ROAD

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, to enable water mains replacement works, the Council of the London Borough of Lambeth intends to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily:

(a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding, waiting, including waiting for the purpose of loading and unloading a vehicle, or parking in that length of Renfrew Road which lies between its junctions with Kennington Lane and  Gilbert Road.

(b) suspend the prohibition of vehicles entering and proceeding along Wincott Street between its junctions with Kennington Road and Kempsford Road.

(c) suspend the prohibition of vehicles entering and proceeding along Kempsford Road between its junctions with Wincott Street and Reedworth Street.

2. Alternative routes for affected vehicles would be available via Kennington Lane, Kennington Road, Windmill Road, Kennington Lane, Kennington Road, Wincott Street and Gilbert Road, or via Gilbert Road, Wincott Street, Kempsford Road, Reedworth Street, Kennington Road and Kennington Lane.

3. The restrictions specified in paragraph 1 would only apply at such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by the placing of the appropriate traffic signs. 

4. The Order would come into force on 15 June 2026 and continue in force for a maximum duration of 8 months, to allow for contingencies, or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. In practice, it is anticipated that the works would take 11 weeks to complete.
