What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (FOOTPATH NO. 562001 IN THE PARISH OF WHINFELL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that due to Volkerstevin carrying out investigation works for water storage (the works), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along a 120m section of footpath no. 562001 between grid references 355781, 496618 and 355876, 496755.
A suitable alternative route for pedestrians will be available via a temporary walkway northwest of the closed section of path.
The Order will come into operation on 15 June 2026 as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed, the order may continue in force for a period of up to six months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
