What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (BRIDLEWAY NO.213002 IN THE PARISH OF BOTHEL AND THREAPLAND)(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS, HORSES AND CYCLISTS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the above Order (“the Order”) made by Cumberland Council on 2 December 2025, which became operative on 11 December 2025, because the likelihood of danger to the public due to the dangerous condition of the bridle bridge and to enable subsequent repair works to be carried out (“the Works”) and which would otherwise expire on 11 June 2026 .

: has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 11 June 2027.

The effect of the Order is to prohibit pedestrians, horses and cyclists from proceeding along an approx. 680m length of Public Bridleway No. 213002 in the Parish of Bothel and Threapland, between grid references 317166 539818 and 317299 539155.

There is no suitable alternative route available for pedestrians, horses and cyclists.
