Essex - Multiple Temporary Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?

(High Street, Braintree and Bocking) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) & (High Street/Great Square/Market Place, Braintree and Bocking) (Temporary Suspension of One Way) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of High Street, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 75m north east of its junction with St Michaels Lane for a distance of approximately 20m in a north easterly direction.
2. To temporarily suspend the one way restriction in High Street, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree from its junction with Great Square, south west to its junction with St Michaels Road as detailed in ‘The Essex County Council (Various Roads, Braintree) (One Way) Order 2020’ for the duration of the above closure for access only.
The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 23rd June 2026 for 2 nights (20:00 - 06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (AD03010710310 / – Anglian Water Business (National) Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while interim to permanent reinstatement works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National) Limited.
An alternative route is available via Fairfield Road, Victoria Street, B1256 and vice versa (with access only into High Street, Great Square and Market Place).
The Order will come into effect on 4th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Terling Road, Hatfield Peverel) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Terling Road, Hatfield Peverel in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 800m north west of its junction with The Street for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd June 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03067487336 – Anglian Water Business (National) Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while meter exchange works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National) Limited.
An alternative route is available via B1137, Waltham Road, Boreham Road, Fuller Street, Braintree Road Owls Hill and vice versa (with access only into New Road, Hatfield Road, Terling Road, Station Road).
The Order will come into effect on 4th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Elm Lane, Feering/Marks Tey) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Elm Lane, Feering in the District of Braintree and Marks Tey in the City of Colchester, from its junction with A120 Coggeshall Road to its junction with Little Tey Road a distance of approximately 1650m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th June 2026 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2397743 & EP201EH2397743A – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Little Tey Road, Wills Green, Hanover Square, The Street, Coggeshall Road, Feering Road, A1024, Colchester Road, A120 Coggeshall Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 21st May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
