A23 TRUNK ROAD
(PEASE POTTAGE INTERCHANGE)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A23 Trunk Road in the County of West Sussex, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is to authorise the overnight and total weekend closures of the western quadrant of the Pease Pottage Roundabout (A23/A264) between its divergence from the road leading to the southbound carriageway of the A23 and its merge with the road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A23 at Pease Pottage Interchange (M23 Junction 11/A23/A264). There will also be a series of lane closures not requiring an Order. These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge deck refurbishment and all associated works. It is expected that the work will last for approximately 3 weeks starting on or after Friday 5th June 2026. The overnight closures will take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). There will be three weekend closures between Friday 21:00 and Monday 06:00 commencing 12th June 2026. Details will be available on the National Highways website. The Order will come into force on the 3rd June 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closure will be diverted southbound on the A23 to Warninglid Junction (B2115) and return.
The temporary closures and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
