INNOVATION DRIVE/THE DROVEWAY)(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF
TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wolverhampton City Council have made an Order
under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as substituted by the Road
Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, prohibiting vehicles from proceeding on the
following stretches of road:
l Prince Street closed between its junctions with Oxford Street and Trinity Road. It is
anticipated that the closure will operate from 12 June 2026 until 23 June 2026, between
the hours of 19:00 and 05:00. Vehicular Diversion Route: Oxford Street, Hare Street,
Trinity Road and vice versa.
l Lansdowne Road closed in its entirety. It is anticipated that the closure will operate from
20 July 2026 until 24 July 2026, between the hours of 09:30 and 14:30. Vehicular
Diversion Route: Bunker's Hill Lane, Holland Road, Central Avenue and vice versa.
l Central Avenue closed at its junction with Lansdowne Road. It is anticipated that the
closure will operate from 20 July 2026 until 24 July 2026, between the hours of 09:30 and
14:30. Vehicular Diversion Route: Central Avenue and vice versa.
l Connaught Road closed between its junctions with Tettenhall Road to Park Road West. It
is anticipated that the closure will operate from 8 June 2026 until 16 June 2026, between
the hours of 08:00 and 17:00. Vehicular Diversion Route: North Bound: Tettenhall Road,
Upper Vauxhall, Park Road West. Vehicular Diversion Route: South Bound:
Park Road West, Summerfield Road, Meadow Street, Chapel Ash, Tettenhall Road.
l Cross Street closed from its junction with Willenhall Road to outside Eagle Plant. It is
anticipated that the closure will operate from 10 June 2026 until 19 June 2026, between the
hours of 08:00 and 17:00. Vehicular Diversion Route: Willenhall Road, Hickman Avenue,
Cross Street and vice versa.
l Upper Zoar Street closed from Gujarati Association to outside the Community Centre. It
is anticipated that the closure will operate from 16 June 2026 until 26 June 2026, between
the hours of 19:00 and 05:00. Vehicular Diversion Route: Merridale Street West,
Ashland Street, Lea Road and vice versa.
l Retreat Street closed from Gujarati Association to outside the Community Centre. It is
anticipated that the closure will operate from 16 June 2026 until 26 June 2026, between
the hours of 19:00 and 05:00. Vehicular Diversion Route: North Bound: Lea Road,
Penn Road, Great Brickklin Street, Graiseley Street. Vehicular Diversion Route: South
Bound Graiseley Street, Great Brickklin Street, Aspen Way, Merridale Road,
Jeffcock Road, Lea Road.
l Wobaston Road roundabout closed from its junction with The Droveway,
Wobaston Road and Innovation Drive. It is anticipated that the closure will operate from
24 June 2026 until 3 July 2026, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00. Vehicular
Diversion Route: Wobaston Road, Pendeford Mill, Duck Lane, Wolverhampton Road,
Histons Hill, Stafford Lane, A41 Holyhead Road, Wergs Road, The Rock,
Tettenhall Road, Chapel Ash, Chapel Ash Island, Ring Road St. Andrews, Ring Road
St. Peters, Stafford Street, A449 Stafford Road, Wobaston Road and vice versa.
l Innovation Drive closed. Access/egress to be maintained. It is anticipated that the closure
will operate from 24 June 2026 until 3 July 2026, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00.
l The Droveway closed. It is anticipated that the closure will operate from 24 June 2026
until 3 July 2026, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00. Vehicular Diversion Route:
Blaydon Road, Oxley Moor Road, A449 Stafford Road and vice versa.
The Order may operate for a maximum period of eighteen months, but it is anticipated that the
works will be undertaken between the dates detailed above, between the times stipulated.
The Order is required to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works.
