(VARIOUS STREETS) (MIDDLETON TOWNSHIP) ORDER 2008) (AMENDMENT) (NO. 100) ORDER 2026

Boarshaw Road (Bus Corridor), Middleton

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Rochdale Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1), 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to amend the Borough of Rochdale (Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Middleton Township) Order 2008, by inserting the following:-

Boarshaw Road, North Middleton Ward
n(i) the northerly side in a north-easterly direction from a point 23 metres south-west of its junction with Stanycliffe Lane to a point 20 metres north-east of its junction with Stanycliffe Lane

n(ii) the southerly side in a south-westerly direction from a point 20 metres north-east of its junction with Green Lane to a point 21 metres south-west of its junction with Green Lane

n(iii) the southerly side in a south-westerly direction from a point 10 metres north-east of its junction with Valley Road to a point 10 metres south-west of its junction with Valley Road

n(iv) the northerly side in a north-easterly direction from a point 8 metres south-west of its junction with Byron Road to a point 10 metres north-east of its junction with Bryon Road

n(v) the southerly side in a south-westerly direction from a point 10 metres north-east of its junction with Dale Road to a point 10 metres south-west of its junction with Dale Road

n(vi) the northerly side in a north-easterly direction from a point 10 metres south-west of its junction with Tennyson Road to a point 10 metres north-east of its junction with Tennyson Road

n(vii) the southerly side in a south-westerly direction from a point 10 metres north-east of its junction with Grove Road to a point 10 metres south-west of its junction with Grove Road

n(viii) the northerly side in a north-easterly direction from a point 10 metres south-west of its junction with Roydes Street to a point 10 metres north-east of its junction with Roydes Street

n(ix) the southerly side from its junction with Brookes Street for a distance of 42 metres in a south-westerly direction

n(x) the southerly side along its easterly approach to the roundabout junction with Clough Road from a point 30 metres north-east of its junction with Clough Road to its roundabout junction with Clough Road

n(xi) the northerly side in a north-easterly direction from its roundabout junction with Clough Road to a point 42 metres north-east of its junction with Boarshaw Clough

n(xii) the easterly side from its roundabout junction with Clough Road for a distance of 15 metres in a south-westerly direction

n(xiii) the westerly side from its roundabout junction with Clough Road for a distance of 21 metres in a south-westerly direction

n(xiv) the westerly side in a north-easterly direction from a point 5 metres south-west of its junction with Dixon Street to a point 5 metres north-east of its junction with Dixon Street 

n(xv) the easterly side in a south-westerly direction from a point 10 metres north-east of its junction with Winwood Drive to a point 10 metres south-west of its junction with Winwood Drive

n(xvi) the westerly side in a north-easterly direction from a point 10 metres south-west of its junction with Barrowfields to a point 10 metres north-east of its junction with Barrowfields

Stanycliffe Lane, North Middleton Ward

n(i) both sides from its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 30 metres in a north-westerly direction

Green Lane, North Middleton Ward

n(i) both sides from its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 15 metres in a south-easterly direction

Valley Road, North Middleton Ward

n(i) both sides from its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 10 metres in a south-easterly direction

Byron Road, North Middleton Ward 

n(i) both sides from its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 10 metres in a north-westerly direction

Dale Road, North Middleton Ward 

n(i) both sides from its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 10 metres in a south-easterly direction

Tennyson Road, North Middleton Ward

n(i) both sides from its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 10 metres in a north-westerly direction Grove Road, North Middleton Ward

Boarshaw Clough, North Middleton Ward

n(i) the north-westerly side from its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 30 metres in a north-easterly direction

n(ii) the south-easterly side from its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 20 metres in a north-easterly direction

Clough Road, North Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from its roundabout junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 15 metres in a north-westerly direction

Winwood Drive, North Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 10 metres in a south-easterly direction

Barrowfields, North Middleton Ward

n(i) both sides from its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 10 metres in a north-westerly direction

In addition to the provisions contained in the Borough of Rochdale ((Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Middleton Township) Order 2008) 

(Amendment) (No. 100) Order a 24-hour Bus Stop Clearway will be created at the following locations:- 

Boarshaw Road, North Middleton Ward
n(i) the southerly side from a point 21 metres south-west of its junction with Green Lane for a distance of 19 metres in a south-westerly direction

n(ii) the northerly side from a point 8 metres south-west of its junction with Byron Road for a distance of 23 metres in a south-westerly direction

n(iii) the southerly side from a point 10 metres south-west of its junction with Dale Road for a distance of 23 metres in a south-westerly direction 

n(iv) the easterly side from a point 80 metres north-east of its junction with Winwood Drive for a distance of 23 metres in a north-easterly direction

n(v) the westerly side from a point 5 metres north-east of its junction with Dixon Street for a distance of 23 metres in a north-easterly direction

n(vi) the westerly side from a point 10 metres south-west of its junction with Barrowfields for a distance of 23 metres in a south-westerly direction

n(vii) the easterly side from a point 134 metres south-west of its junction with Winwood Drive for a distance of 23 metres in a south-westerly direction

n(viii) the easterly side from a point 22 metres north-east of its junction with John Lee Fold for a distance of 23 metres in a north-easterly direction

n(ix) the westerly side from a point 93 metres south-west of its junction with Bardsley Street for a distance of 23 metres in a south-westerly direction

Green Lane, North Middleton Ward

n(i) the easterly side from a point 15 metres south of its junction with Boarshaw Road for a distance of 23 metres in a south-easterly direction

A copy of the proposed Order and plans showing the lengths of roads concerned, together with a Statement of Reasons for making the Order, may be viewed on the Council's website www.rochdale.gov.uk/roads, or by phoning Highways on 0300 303 8879 to request a copy via post.

Objections to the proposed Order, stating the grounds on which they are made, must be made in writing and forwarded to trafficorders@rochdale.gov.uk or, alternatively, to Network Management, Floor 2, Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale, OL16 1XU to reach the Council on or before 18th June 2026, quoting H60/1446.
