What is happening?

CYNGOR BWRDEISTREF SIROL CASTELL-NEDD PORT TALBOT (MILBOROUGH ROAD, YSTALYFERA) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council intend in not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding along the length of road set out in the Schedule below whilst the Order is in force. During such periods as are indicated by traffic signs informing the public that the road is closed.

Whilst the Order is in force, the existing One-Way Traffic Order on Milborough Road will be suspended for the duration of the closure from the junction of Talywern Road in an easterly direction for 110m along its length.

The Order is necessary to enable Welsh Water to carry out civil engineering works in the road and for the Highways Authority to carry out any necessary resulting maintenance works in the road.

The Order will come into force on the 17th June 2026 and shall continue in force for a maximum duration of 18 months, or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner.

It is estimated it will take 3 days to complete the work.

SCHEDULE

Milborough Road will be closed from the junction of Alltygrug Road in an easterly direction for a distance of 45m along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected section of Milborough Road and Commercial Street Ystalyfera.
