What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON A1170 WARE ROAD, HODDESDON) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A1170 Ware Road, Hoddesdon from its junction with Briscoe Road south eastwards to its junction with the B1197 Hertford Road/ A1170 Amwell Street roundabout, a distance of approximately 441m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A1170 Ware Road, A10 (Amwell Link Road/unnamed road/Hoddesdon Link Road) and A1170 Amwell Street.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 15 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HEBING END, BENINGTON) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Hebing End, Benington from its junction with Whempstead Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 350m (“the Road”).

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 15 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months.

The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON PARNEL ROAD, WARE AND PROSPECT ROAD, CHESHUNT) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1. that length of Parnel Road, Ware from its junction with Tower Road south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Cromwell Road, a distance of approximately 335m.
An alternative route will be via Tower Road.

2. that length of Prospect Road, Cheshunt from its junction with Blindmans Lane north westwards and clockwise for its entire length. 

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 15 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON VARIOUS ROADS IN CHESHUNT) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:-

1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from being driven at a speed exceeding 30mph on that length of A10 Great Cambridge Road, Cheshunt from a point 240m south west of its junction with College Road north eastwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 300m, when signs are in place.

2. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a left turn manoeuvre from College Road into A10 Great Cambridge Road, Cheshunt, whilst works are in progress.

An alternative route will be via A10 Great Cambridge Road, the B198 Lieutenant Ellis Way/A121 Winston Churchill Way roundabout and A10 Great Cambridge Road.

The Order is needed because water connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 15 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 4 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF WHEMPSTEAD ROAD, BENINGTON) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Whempstead Road, Benington from a point 123m south east of its junction with High Elms Lane south eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 120m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Whempstead Road, Town Lane, Church Green, Walkern Road, High Street, A602 (Watton at Stone Bypass/Ware Road) and Whempstead Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 16 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF THE EXISTING BUS/CYCLE LANE SITUATED ON THE EAST SIDE OF B176 TURNERS HILL, CHESHUNT) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to temporarily suspend the existing bus/cycle lane on the east side of B176 Turners Hill, Cheshunt from a point 94m south east of its junction with Windmill Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 88m (“the Bus/Cycle Lane”), to enable all vehicles to use this length of bus/ cycle lane, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Bus/Cycle Lane.

The Order will come into effect from 16 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 4 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Bus/Cycle Lane.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE SERVICE ROAD FRONTING NOS.90A-98 CUFFLEY HILL, GOFFS OAK) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the service road fronting Nos.90A-98 Cuffley Hill, Goffs Oak from a point 21m north west of its easternmost junction with B156 Cuffley Hill south westwards for a distance of approximately 20m (“the Road”), except for access.

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because water service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 1 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 14 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BOWLING ROAD, WARE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Bowling Road, Ware from its junction with Vicarage Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”). An alternative route will be via Vicarage Road, Garland Road, Musley Lane and Bowling Road.

The Order is needed because gas main works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 1 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 14 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ASPENDEN ROAD, BUNTINGFORD AND THE STREET, ASPENDEN) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):-

1. that length of Aspenden Road, Buntingford from its junction with The Street north eastwards for a distance of approximately 81m.

An alternative route will be via 3U20 (unnamed road), Station Road, A10 (unnamed road), London Road and Aspenden Road.

2. that length of The Street, Aspenden from its junction with Aspenden Road westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 1 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF KITTEN LANE, STANSTEAD ABBOTTS) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Kitten Lane, Stanstead Abbotts from its junction with B181 Roydon Road north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 96m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via B181 Roydon Road, B180 Hunsdon Road and Kitten Lane.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 1 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF C15 (UNNAMED ROAD), LITTLE HADHAM) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of C15 (unnamed road), Little Hadham from its junction with Bromley Lane northwards and north eastwards to its junction with The Ford, a distance of approximately 835m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via C15 (unnamed road), B1004 (Winding Hill/Great Hadham Road), A1184 Bishops Park Way, A120 Hadham Road, Hadham Road, Stortford Road, Standon Road, The Ash and The Ford. The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 1 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 10 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, STANDON)
(RESTRICTION OF WAITING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce new waiting restrictions on parts of Standon, Ware as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. The Order will come into effect on Friday 29 May 2026.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be viewed from 28 May 2026 to 9 July 2026 during office hours at Main Reception, Farnham House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage or online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting East Herts and looking at Ref: EH00226.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (WEST STREET AND TUDOR SQUARE, WARE)
(PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLE ZONE) ORDER 2025
THE HERTFORDSHIRE (TUDOR SQUARE, WARE) (PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce new restrictions on West Street and Tudor Square, Ware as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. The Order will come into effect on Monday 1 June 2026. 

The proposals as advertised on 24 April 2025 were modified as a result of the statutory consultation. This includes an amendment to the ‘Pedestrian and Cycle Zone’ restriction in Tudor Square to change the prohibition of stopping of Police vehicles at any time to a Police parking bay at all times.

SCHEDULE 2: Police parking bay at all times – that section of Pedestrian and Cycle Zone listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plan – Part of Tudor Square.
