Mill Road - Temporary Road Closure Due To Gas Main Renewal Works

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (1)(A) (AS AMENDED)

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that the County Borough Council of Torfaen in exercise of their powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any traffic from proceeding along a section of Mill Road, Pontnewynydd, Pontypool between Hospital Road and George Street.

The alternative route is along Hospital Road, A4043 Osborne Road, George Street and vice versa. (Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained as far as is reasonably practicable).

The prohibition is necessary because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road to renew a gas main.

The Order will operate from Monday 8th June 2026 until Sunday 5th July 2026 and any other days deemed necessary within a period not exceeding 18 months.

HYSBYSIR trwy hyn fod Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Torfaen, drwy arfer ei bwerau o dan Ddeddf Rheoleiddio Traffig Ffyrdd 1984 (fel y’i diwygiwyd) yn bwriadu gwneud Gorchymyn, nid llai na saith niwrnod ar ôl dyddiad yr Hysbysiad hwn, a fydd yn gwahardd unrhyw draffig rhag teithio ar hyd rhan o Mill Road, Pontnewynydd, Pont-y-pwl rhwng Hospital Road a George Street.

Mae’r llwybr amgen ar hyd Hospital Road, A4043 Osborne Road, George Street ac i’r gwrthwyneb. (Cedwir mynediad i drigolion a’r gwasanaethau brys cyn belled ag y bo modd yn rhesymol).

Mae’r gwaharddiad yn ofynnol am fod gwaith yn cael ei wneud, neu ar fin cael ei wneud, ar yr heol, neu ger yr heol i adnewyddu prif gyflenwad nwy.

Bydd y Gorchymyn arfaethedig ar waith o ddydd Llun 8 Mehefin 2026 hyd nes dydd Sul 5 Gorffennaf 2026 ac yn ystod unrhyw ddiwrnodau eraill os bernir bod hynny’n angenrheidiol o fewn cyfnod sydd heb fod yn hwy na 18 mis.
