Thwaite Street - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic For Works
What is happening?
THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026 THWAITE STREET (LEVEL CROSSING), COTTINGHAM
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing any vehicle to proceed along Thwaite Street (Level Crossing), Cottingham. The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed plain line tamping works, to be carried out and completed in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public. It is anticipated that the works will be completed by 4 June 2026.
The alternative route for traffic affected by the Order is via Thwaite Street, Newgate Street, South Street, Baynard Avenue, West End Road, Northgate, New Village Road and Thwaite Street Roundabout, Cottingham.
The road will be closed to all through traffic but will remain open at all times for emergency vehicles.
The Order will commence 3 June 2026 until 4 June 2026 (between 23.30 hours and 06.00 hours) and continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
