What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(DEAN STREET, LOW FELL) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that on the 27 May 2026 the Borough Council of Gateshead made an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Dean Street, Low Fell:-

a. from a point 41 metres west of its junction with Hill Top Gardens, in a westerly direction for a distance of 22 metres. b. from a point 180 metres east of its junction with Kells Lane, in an easterly direction for a distance of 25 metres.
The Order is required to facilitate meter installation works.
The Order will come into force on the 1 June 2026.
The maximum duration of the Order will be 18 months; however, the works are expected to be completed on the 5 June 2026. During the works all vehicles (except vehicles associated with the works and emergency service vehicles on duty and with limited access for residents within the immediate area) will be prohibited from proceeding along the above road until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition there will be a signed diversion in place.
