What is happening?

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U8631 BLACKHOUSE LANE, GREAT CORNARD

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U8631 Blackhouse Lane, Great Cornard from Wells Hall Road for 30 metres south westbound to facilitate water works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Wells Hall Road, Head Lane, Bures Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 27/05/2026 - 29/05/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1061 SCHOOL ROAD, GREAT WRATTING

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1061 School Road, Great Wratting from 620 metres north of Haverhill Road for 30 metres northbound to facilitate the installation of a new water connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the A143, the A1307, the A11, the A1304, the B1061 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 27/05/2026 - 30/05/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U5921 WALSHAM ROAD, WATTISFIELD

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U5921 Walsham Road, Wattisfield from 20 metres south of Hyfields property for 50 metres southbound to facilitate telecommunications pole testing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Walsham Road, Wattisfield Road, The Street, Summer Road, the A143, Walsham Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 05/06/2026 from 9.30am - 2.30pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U8909 CORAM STREET, HADLEIGH

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U8909 Coram Street, Hadleigh from the junction with the A1071 Hadleigh Bypass for 910 metres eastbound to facilitate telecommunications cable works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the A1071, the B1070, Friars Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 27/05/2026 - 29/05/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C720 Road from C719 to A1141, Groton from the junction with Road from C720 to 8331 for 50 metres north eastbound to facilitate electrical lines and pole works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Daisy Green, Roundmaple, Milden Road, Waldingfield Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 27/05/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1087 UPPER STREET, HIGHAM

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1087 Upper Street, Higham from 75 metres north east of the junction with Hadleigh Road for 35 metres eastbound to facilitate a new electrical connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the A12, the A1341, the A134, the B1087 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 27/05/2026 - 30/05/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C203 BLYFORD LANE, WENHASTON WITH MELLS HAMLET

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C203 Blyford Lane, Wenhaston with Mells Hamlet from 33 metres north of the junction with Coles Hill for 156 metres northbound to facilitate vegetation works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Hall Road, Hazel Lane, the A12, the A145, the B1123 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 27/05/2026 - 29/05/2026 from 8am - 5pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C422 GASTON STREET, EAST BERGHOLT

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:

• C422 Gaston Street, East Bergholt from 30 metres southwest of the junction with Chaplin Road for 20 metres south westbound

• C422 Gaston Street, East Bergholt from 15 metres northeast of Lambe School Hall for 30 metres north eastbound

This is to facilitate stop tap replacements. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Gandish Road, the B1070 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 27/05/2026 - 28/05/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

NOTICE OF PROPOSED SPEED CUSHION ROAD HUMPS ON GROVE LANE (B1059) AND FOXHALL ROAD (B1059) (BOROUGH OF IPSWICH)

AND

NOTICE OF PROPOSED TOUCAN CROSSING ON GROVE LANE (B1059) AND FOXHALL ROAD (B1059) AND RAISED CROSSING ON FOXHALL ROAD (B1059) (BOROUGH OF IPSWICH)

Road Humps

Suffolk County Council proposes to construct six speed cushion road humps on:

Grove Lane:

• at a point 28.6m south of Spring Road (C25)

• at a point 30.5m south of its junction with Oxford Road (U2413)

• at a point 30.3m south of the junction with King Avenue (U2414)

• at a point 31.7m northwest of its junction with Woodville Road (U2625)

• Foxhall Road:

• at a point 75.8m east of its junction with Back Hamlet (U2415), and

• at a point 18.4m east of its junction with Wellesley Road (U2643).

The speed cushion road humps will be laid in pairs, with the following dimensions: length 3000mm, width 1650mm, and height 75mm.

Road Crossings

Suffolk County Council proposes to install a raised crossing on Foxhall Road (B1059), at a point 25.4m east of its junction with Gladstone Road (U2417). The raised crossing will have a length of 7950mm, width of 6650mm and height of 65mm.

Additionally, Suffolk County Council proposes to construct new Toucan crossings on:

• Grove Lane (B1059), at a point 22.4m south of its junction with Finbars Walk (U2708); and

• Foxhall Road (B1059), at a point approximately 17m east of its junction with Back Hamlet (U2415).

A map showing the location of the proposed speed cushion road humps and crossings, and the Council’s reasons for this proposal may be seen with advanced notice at Ipswich County Library, Northgate Street, Ipswich, IP1 3DE, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: 9am - 6pm, Tuesday and Friday: 9am - 7pm, Saturday: 8.30am - 5pm, and Sunday: 10am - 4pm, excluding Bank Holidays and Public Holidays.

Comments, objections, and other representations relating to the proposed road hump, specifying the grounds on which they are made, must be in writing and must reach Rhea Philip, Suffolk County Legal Services at the address below or email to: rhea.philip@suffolk.gov.uk no later than 16/05/2026.
