What is happening?
CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(Grantchester Road, Cambridge and Mill Way, Grantchester) (20mph Speed Limit and Restricted Roads) Order 202-
The City of Cambridge (Civil Enforcement Area) (Waiting Restrictions and Street Parking Places) Order 2022 (Amendment No.78) Order 202-
The City of Cambridge Area A (Consolidation) Order 1993 (Amendment No. 163) Order 202-
Cambridgeshire County Council proposes to make Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers.
The effect of these Orders will be to extend the existing 20mph speed limit on Grantchester Road, Trumpington westwards by 350m. From that point westwards the existing 30mph speed limit would remain and west of that the current 40mph speed limit on Grantchester Road and Mill Way in Grantchester village would be reduced to 30mph. Furthermore, it is proposed to introduce a prohibition of waiting (double yellow lines) and three on-street parking spaces (outside property nos.10-14) on the north side of Grantchester Road, Trumpington in the vicinity of St. Mary & St. Michael’s Church. The purpose of these proposals is to lower traffic speeds, control on-street parking and improve road safety.
We are also proposing to revoke the no right turn on Newmarket Road on the westbound carriageway at its junction with Coldhams Lane, this no right turn was historically in place to prohibit right turns into the former West’s Garage which has since been redeveloped into student dwellings with no vehicular access at this location.
