THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.10) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 22nd June 2026 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Vauxhall Way (phase 1) from its junction with Kimpton Road to its junction with Eaton Green Road. Diversion route via Eaton Green Road, Frank Lester Way, Percival Way, Airport Way. Anticipated dates and times of closures 22nd June 2026 to 26th June 2026, 8pm to 5am.
Vauxhall Way (phase 2) from its junction with Eaton Green Road to its junction with Crawley Green Road. Diversion route via Crawley Green Road, St Marys Roundabout, Windmill Road, Kimpton Road, Vauxhall Way. Anticipated dates and times of closures 29th June 2026 to 3rd July 2026, 8pm to 5am.
Vauxhall Way (phase 3) from its junction with Crawley Green Road to its junction with Stopsley Way. Diversion route via Hitchin Road, Crescent Road, Crawley Green Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 6th July 2026 to 10th July 2026, 8pm to 5am.
New Airport Way (phase 1) from its junction with Gipsy Lane to its junction with Luton Airport Way roundabout. Diversion route via New Airport Way, Luton Airport Way Roundabout, Airport Way. Anticipated dates and times of closures 13th July 2026 to 15th July 2026, 9:30am to 3pm.
New Airport Way (phase 2) from its junction with Gipsy Lane to its junction with Luton Airport Way roundabout. Diversion route via Luton Airport Way Roundabout, Airport Way, New Airport Way. Anticipated dates and times of closures 20th July 2026 to 22nd July 2026, 9:30am to 3pm.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Volker Highways to carry out highway deep clean, lining and maintenance works. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic where available will be marked by signs.
