Townley Street (Bus Corridor), Middleton
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Rochdale Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1), 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to amend the Borough of Rochdale (Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Middleton Township) Order 2008, by inserting the following:-
Schedule No. 1.1
No Waiting at Any Time
Townley Street, East Middleton Ward
n(i) the westerly side from its junction with Taylor Street to a point 5 metres north-west of its junction with Langton Street
n(ii) the easterly side from its junction with Grimshaw Lane for a distance of 38 metres in a north-westerly direction
n(iii) the westerly side from its junction with Victoria Street for a distance of 10 metres in a south-easterly direction
Grimshaw Lane, East Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from its junction with Townley Street for a distance of 39 metres in a north-easterly direction
Kirkway, East Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from its junction with Grimshaw Lane for a distance of 10 metres in a southerly direction
Taylor Street, East Middleton Ward
n(i) the southerly side from its junction with Kirkway for a distance of 5 metres in a westerly direction
n(ii) the northerly side from its junction with Townley Street for a distance of 10 metres in a westerly direction
Hornby Street, East Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from its junction with Townley Street for a distance of 5 metres in a south-westerly direction
Langton Street, East Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from its junction with Townley Street for a distance of 5 metres in a south-westerly direction
Victoria Street, East Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from its junction with Townley Street for a distance of 10 metres in a south-westerly direction In addition to the provisions contained in the Borough of
Rochdale (Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Middleton Township) Order 2008) (Amendment) (No. 98) Order a 24-hour Bus Stop
Clearway will be created at the following locations:-
Townley Street, East Middleton Ward
n(i) the easterly side from a point 38 metres north-west of its junction with Grimshaw Lane for a distance of 21 metres in a north-westerly direction
n(ii) the westerly side from a point 7 metres south-east of its junction with Langton Street for a distance of 21 metres in a south-easterly direction
n(iii) the westerly side from a point 10 metres south-east of its junction with Victoria Street for a distance of 23 metres in a south-easterly direction
Townley Street, North Middleton Ward
n(i) the easterly side from a point 5 metres south-east of its junction with Spring Vale for a distance of 21 metres in a south easterly direction
n(ii) the westerly side from a point 7 metres north-west of its junction with Bridge Street for a distance of 19 metres in a north-westerly direction
A copy of the proposed Order and plans showing the lengths of roads concerned, together with a Statement of Reasons for making the Order, may be viewed on the Council's website www.rochdale.gov.uk/roads, or by phoning Highways on 0300 303 8879 to request a copy via post.
Objections to the proposed Order, stating the grounds on which they are made, must be made in writing and forwarded to trafficorders@rochdale.gov.uk or, alternatively, to Network Management, Floor 2, Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale, OL16 1XU to reach the Council on or before 18th June 2026, quoting H60/1444.
