HYSBYSIR drwy hyn fod Cyngor Dinas Casnewydd, wrth arfer ei bwerau dan Ddeddf Rheoleiddio Traffig Ffyrdd 1984 (fel y’i diwygiwyd), mewn dim llai na 7 diwrnod o ddyddiad yr hysbysiad hwn, yn bwriadu creu gorchymyn a fydd yn gwahardd unrhyw gerbyd rhag mynd ar hyd Somerton Road o’i chyffordd â Chepstow Road i 50 metr i’r de o Palm Square, Casnewydd. Bydd y llwybr amgen ar hyd Chepstow Road, Corporation Road, Cromwell Road a Wharf Road, Casnewydd. Y rheswm dros wneud y gorchymyn yw caniatáu gwaith ar y brif bibell nwy. Bydd y gorchymyn arfaethedig ar waith o 1 Mehefin 2026 a bydd yn parhau mewn grym am gyfnod o 18 mis neu hyd nes y bydd y gwaith wedi ei gwblhau, pa un bynnag fydd gyntaf. Disgwylir i’r gwaith bara 9 wythnos. Bydd mynediad i gerddwyr a phreswylwyr drwy’r adeg a chaiff y gwasanaethau brys fynediad ar fyrder. NEWPORT CITY COUNCIL (SOMERTON ROAD, NEWPORT) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Newport City Council in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) intends not less than 7 days from the date of this notice to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along Somerton Road from its junction with Chepstow Road to 50 metres south of Palm Square, Newport. The alternative route is via Chepstow Road, Corporation Road, Cromwell Road and Wharf Road, Newport. The reason for making the order is due to gas main works. The proposed order will be operative from 1st June 2026 and will continue in force for a period of 18 months or until works have been completed, if earlier. The anticipated duration of the works is 9 weeks. Pedestrian and residential access will be available at all times and emergency access will be made quickly available.
