(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M6 Motorway, in the City of Lancaster, in the County of Lancashire, to enable resurfacing works and other general maintenance to be carried out in safety.
The Order will ban all traffic from the northbound carriageway of the M6 Motorway, from a point 122 metres south of the southbound exit slip road at J33, to a point 167 metres north of the Foundry Lane Bridge.
The prohibition is expected to be in place overnight between 19:00 and 08:00 during a period starting on Monday 29 June 2026 and ending on Sunday 19 July 2026.
However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or until completed.
Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M6 Motorway and local roads will be well signed.
The prohibition will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall, from time to time, be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 28 June 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
