PUBLIC NOTICE

THE CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON

(E-SCOOTER AND CYCLE HIRE PARKING) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT SOUTHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL made the above Order on 20<sup>th</sup> May 2026, the effects of which will be:

  1. To introduce E-scooter and Cycle Hire bays, with associated docks, in the following lengths of road:

a. Acacia Road, north-west side, From 11.5m south-west of the south-western kerb-line of Cornel Road south-westwards for 5.5m.

b. Burgoyne Road, north side, From 73m east of the eastern kerb-line of Tunstall Road eastwards for 5.5m.

c. Copsewood Road, south-west side, From 1m north-west of the boundary between 60–62 Copsewood Road north-westwards for 5.5m.

d. Farringford Road, north-west side, From 81m north-east of the extended north-eastern kerb-line of Spalding Road north-eastwards for 5.5m.

e. Garton Road, south side, From 150m west of its junction with Manor Road South westwards for 5.5m.

f. Kenson Gardens, north side, From 21.5m west of the western kerb-line of Middle Road westwards for 5.5m.

g. Manor Farm Road, north-west side, From 85m south-west of the extended western kerb-line of Dimond Road south-westwards for 5.5m.

h. Melbourne Street (Central Trading Estate) (eastern north/south section), west side, From 21m south of the southern kerb-line of Melbourne Street (Central Trading Estate) (northern east/west section) southwards for 5.5m (in place of existing No Loading during restricted hours restrictions).

i. Merryoak Road, north-west side, From 10m north-east of the north-eastern kerb-line of Cypress Avenue north-eastwards for 5.5m.

j. Midanbury Lane, west side, From 42m north of the extended northern kerb-line of Dallmay Gardens northwards for 5.5m.

k. Shooters Hill Close, south-west side, From 10m north-west of the extended north-western kerb-line of Range Gardens north-westwards for 5.5m.

l. Solent Avenue, south-west side, From 10m north-west of the north-western kerb-line of Farringford Road north-westwards for 5.5m.

m. South East Road, north-east side, From 28m north-west of the north-western kerb-line of Chapel Crescent north-westwards for 5.5m (in place of existing Mon–Sat, 8am–6pm, 30 mins Limited Waiting restrictions).

n. Wellington Road, north side, From 15m east of the eastern kerb-line of Manor Farm Road eastwards for 5.5m.

o. Whitworth Crescent, west side, From 25m south of the southern kerb-line of Cobden Avenue southwards for 5.5m (in place of existing Mon–Sat, 8am–6pm, 1hr Limited Waiting restrictions).

p. Wodehouse Road, north-east side, From 32m south-east of the south-eastern kerb-line of Manor Road North south-eastwards for 5.5m.

Please note that the bays proposed in the following locations are withdrawn: Appleton Road, Ash Tree Road, Byron Road, Jameson Road, Merridale Road, Middle Road, Opren Road, Ruby Road and Stoddart Avenue

This Order will come into operation on 25<sup>th</sup> May 2026.

Copies of the Order, relevant map and statement of reasons for proposing can be viewed online at transport.southampton.gov.uk/TRO or may be inspected Monday – Friday, 10am – 3pm at the Gateway in the Civic Centre, Southampton SO14 7LY.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
