What is happening?

THE ROYAL BOROUGH OF KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991

SCHEDULE I - SECTION 14 (1) (A)
VARIOUS ROADS - TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

I. The Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea hereby give notice that to facilitate highway improvement works they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to impose temporary restrictions on vehicular traffic in the sections of the streets as listed in paragraph II below. 

In addition, the alternative routes are also shown. Directly affected residents will be notified in advance of the dates and anticipated duration of each closure. However, to allow for contingencies the order will remain in force for eighteen months.
II.
1. Blenheim Crescent - Full Road closure. 
Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via Ladbroke Grove, Westbourne Park Road, Clydesdale Road, Coville Square and Talbot Road.

2. Elgin Crecent - Full Road closure
Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via Ladbroke Grove, Blenheim Crescent, Talbot Road, Coville Square and Coville Terrace

3. Kensington Park Road - Full Road closure at its junctions with Elgin Crescent and Blenheim Crescent. In addition, the order which provides for one way working in Kensington Park Road will be suspended to facilitate access. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via Elgin Crescent, Ladbroke Grove, Blenheim Crescent and vice versa.

4. Kensington Park Road (Northern Arm) - Closure at its junction with Blenheim Crescent. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via Blenheim Crescent, Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park Road.

5. Kensington Park Road - Closure at its junction with Elgin Crescent. Directional lane closure for westbound vehicular traffic from Portobello Road to Ladbroke Grove. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic is via Coville Terrace, Coville Road and Westbourne Grove or Arundel Gardens, Ladbroke Grove and Elgin Crescent.

III. To facilitate the works being carried out the Order will ban waiting at any time in the sections of carriageway specified above whilst the works are being carried out.

IV. The Order will come into effect on Thursday 1 st June 2026 and under the provisions of the above-mentioned Act will continue in force until such time as all the works are completed.

V. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden.

VI. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to any vehicle being used in connection with the said works.
