SUMMER HIGHWAYS SURFACE DRESSING WORKS
TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2026
North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on various roads in North Tyneside to allow surface dressing of the carriageway as follows
BACKWORTH & HOLYSTONE
A186 Rotary Road From Railway Bridge to Hastings Drive Roundabout eastbound. Alternative routes available via A186 – Station Road – Earsdon Road – A186 and vice versa.
CAMPERDOWN
1. A189 Northbound
From A188 Benton Lane/Salters Lane Rb to 550m to the North of the Roundabout. Alternative routes available via A189 – Benton Lane – Great Lime Road – Killingworth Drive – Killingworth Way – A189 and vice versa.
2. A189 Southbound
From 150m South of The Killingworth Way Roundabout to Whitehouse Drive Roundabout. Alternative routes available via A189 – Killingworth Way – Station Road – Killingworth Drive – A189 and vice versa.
LONGBENTON & BENTON
A189 Salters Lane From Oliver & Sons Access to Gosforth Park Way Roundabout Northbound. Alternative routes available via A189 – Benton Lane – A189 and vice versa.
ST MARY’S
A1148 Monkseaton Drive Newsteads Drive Roundabout to Beaumont Drive Roundabout and Beaumont Drive Roundabout to The Avenue Waggonway. Alternative routes available via Monkseaton Drive – Red House Drive – Beaumont Drive or Monkseaton Drive – Newsteads Drive – Rosemount Way – Earsdon Road – Seatonville Road.
TYNEMOUTH
A193 The Broadway From Beach Road to Links Avenue and from Links Avenue 50m North of Links Avenue. Alternative routes available via Monkseaton Drive – Claremont Gardens – Ilfracombe Gardens – Marine Avenue.
The Order will come into force on June 15 2026 lasting until August 31 2026 in order to allow for Pre-Patching and Surface Dressing. Works will only take place as and when signage is erected.
