Kirkby Ireleth - Temporary 40mph & 30mph Speed Restrictions Due To Building Works

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (A595, WREAKS CAUSEWAY, KIRKBY IRELETH) (TEMPORARY 40MPH AND 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable building works to be carried out (“the Works), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to: -

Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour along the following lengths of road;

A595, Wreaks Causeway, Kirkby Ireleth, from a point approx. 815 metres north west of its junction with the U5085, extending in a northerly direction a distance of approx. 200 metres.

A595, Wreaks Causeway, Kirkby Ireleth, from a point approx. 600 metres south east of its junction with the U5073, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 200 metres.

Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour along the section of the A595, Wreaks Causeway, Kirkby Ireleth, from a point approx. 800 metres south east of its junction with the U5073, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 300 metres.

No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 8th June 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 5 days and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
