ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991 SCHEDULE I - SECTION 14 (1) (A)
PORTOBELLO ROAD - TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
I. The Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea hereby give notice that to facilitate highway improvement works they have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose temporary restrictions on vehicular traffic in the sections of the streets as listed in paragraph
II below. In addition, the alternative routes are also shown. Directly affected residents will be notified in advance of the dates and anticipated duration of each closure. However, to allow for contingencies the order will remain in force for eighteen months.

1.Portobello Road - Closure between the junction with Chepstow Villas and Denbigh Terrace. In addition, the order which provides for one way working in Portobello Road between Westbourne Grove and Chepstow Villas will be suspended to facilitate access. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via Chepstow Villas, Denbigh Road, Denbigh Terrace and via Chepstow Villas, Kensington Park Road and Westbourne Grove.
2. Portobello Road - Closure between the junction with Westbourne Grove and Denbigh Terrace. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via Denbigh Terrace, Denbigh Road and Westbourne Grove.
3. Westbourne Grove - the prohibition on right and left turns into Portobello Road will be suspended to allow vehicle access.
III. To facilitate the works being carried out the Order will ban waiting at any time in the sections of carriageway specified above whilst the works are being carried out.
IV. The Order came into effect on Thursday 14th May 2026 and under the provisions of the above-mentioned Act will continue in force until such time as all the works are completed.
V. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden.
VI. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to any vehicle being used in connection with the said works.
