What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT 

(COPPERFIELD ROAD, CHEADLE HULME) 
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Copperfield Road, Cheadle Hulme, between the junctions of Dickens Close and Acre Field Road, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. 

This Order is necessary to allow for electrical connection works to take place. It is estimated these works will last 9 days. A diversion will be provided via Acre Field Road, Melbury Road, Midway and vice versa. 

This Notice does not apply to any vehicle on any occasion when it is being used for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes.

This Notice does not apply to pedestrians or pedal cycles.

This Order is to come into operation on 8 June 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Ref: JO/16094708/11
