What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT
(PENNINE ROAD, HILLSIDE ROAD, AND WERNETH ROAD, WOODLEY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Pennine Road, Woodley, from the junction of Werneth Road in a northerly direction for approximately 50 metres. Hillside Road, Woodley, from the junction of Pennine Road in an easterly direction for approximately 50 metres.
Werneth Road, Woodley, from 50 metres south of the junction with Pennine Road in a northerly and then westerly direction for approximately 120 metres, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said roads.
This Order is necessary to allow resurfacing works to take place.
It is estimated these works will last 4 days. A diversion will be provided via Werneth Road, Greave, Sandy Lane, Compstall Road, Stockport Road, School Brow, George Lane, Hyde Road, Pennine Road, and vice versa. This Notice does not apply to pedestrians or pedal cycles.
This Order is to come into operation on 23 June 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Ref: JO/16094708/10
