TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BURTON JOYCE FOOTPATH NO.6, CHESTNUT GROVE CROSSING) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) CONTINUATION NO.2 ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State Transport in pursuance of the powers conferred by Sections 14 and 15 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 approves of “The Nottinghamshire County Council (Burton Joyce Footpath No.6, Chestnut Grove Crossing) (Temporary Prohibition) Notice 2025” (which came into force on 27th November 2025 and was continued in force by a Continuation Order which remains in force until 26th May 2026 inclusive) being extended and continuing in force until 26th May 2027 or until completion of the relevant works, whichever is the sooner.
The Order has the following effect:-
No person shall: -
(a) proceed on foot, in the following length of Footpath at Burton Joyce in the Borough of Gedling :-
Burton Joyce Footpath No.6, from Chestnut Grove, over the level crossing to Burton Joyce Footpath No.8.
AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the most direct alternative route available for pedestrians will be as follows: -
Chestnut Grove, Church Street, St Helens Crescent, Burton Joyce Footpath No.7 (which goes under the railway tracks and includes a number of steps) and Burton Joyce Footpath No.8 and vice versa.There are other alternative routes shown on the accompanying plan.
If the works are not completed within the above period the Order may be extended for a longer period with the further approval of the Secretary of State for Transport.
The prohibition is required to protect public safety following an incident over the railway footpath crossing.
