(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of B5248 Church Road, Leyland from its junction with B5248 Towngate, Leyland for a distance of 107 metres in an easterly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 2030 hours on Sunday 7th June 2026 until 0430 hours on Monday 8th June 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
B5248 Church Road - B5248 Worden Lane – B5248 Fox Lane - B5248 Leyland Lane - B5248 Slater Lane - B5248 Mill Street - B5248 Dunkirk Lane - B5253 Schleswig Way - B5256 Longmeanygate - B5256 Golden Hill Lane – School Lane – Towngate - B5254 Towngate - B5254 St Andrews Way.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow lifting works to be carried out on to the church roof.
