What is happening?

SOMERSET COUNCIL

(VARIOUS ROADS, YEOVIL) (IN THE PARISHES OF YEOVILTON & DISTRICT, WEST CAMEL, QUEEN CAMEL AND SPARKFORD) (30MPH, 40MPH AND 50MPH SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Somerset Council proposes to make the above Order in pursuance of the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which is to introduce 30mph, 40mph and 50mph speed limits on the lengths of roads as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. The provisions of any other orders are hereby revoked but only as far as they are affected by the restrictions by this Order. A copy of the draft Order, the maps showing the lengths of road affected and the Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected online at www.somerset.gov.uk/TRO. Any person wishing to make representations or to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their representations or objection and state the grounds on which it is made to Somerset Council, via email to TROinbox@somerset.gov.uk quoting Reference No. KT4042026 and received no later than 21 days from the publication of this notice. The names and addresses of anyone writing in may be made available for public inspection and will be included in a report that may be published on the Somerset Council website, unless the individuals concerned state, in writing, their objection to their names and addresses being made so available or being included in the publication.

30mph Speed Limit

Higher Howell Hill - From a point 10 metres east of its junction with Higher Howell Hill Roundabout in an easterly direction to its junction with Howell Hill

40mph Speed Limit

Hazelgrove Interchange - For its entire length

Camel Hill - For its entire length

Vale Lane - From its junction with Hazelgrove Interchange Roundabout for a distance of 650 metres in a westerly direction

Hazelgrove Interchange Roundabout - For its entire length

Hazelgrove Roundabout - For its entire length

Sparkford Hill - From its junction with Hazelgrove Roundabout for a distance of 700 metres in a south westerly direction

Wolfester Terrace - For its entire length

A359 High Street - From its junction with Hazelgrove Roundabout for a distance of 340 metres in a north easterly direction

50mph Speed Limit

B3151 RNAS Yeovilton Road - From a point 140 metres north east of its junction the Bridgehampton Road to a point 80 metres south of its junction with the A303

Camel Cross - For its entire length

Higher Howell Roundabout - For its entire length

Higher Howell Hill - From its junction with Higher Howell Hill Roundabout for a distance of 10 metres in an easterly direction

Steart Hill Bridge - From its junction with Higher Howell Hill Roundabout for a distance of 10 metres in a north easterly direction

STATEMENT OF REASONS FOR PROPOSING TO MAKE THE ORDER

For avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising. The speed limit changes are associated with the A303 Dual Carriageway Scheme.
