Norfolk - Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders For Road Closures & Restrictions Due To Various Works
What is happening?
NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders 2026 - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
Swaffham –
A) U30027/10 Greenhoe Place from its junction with U33353 Haspalls Road for 367m southwards and;
B) U30027/20 Greenhoe Place from its junction with U30027/10 Greenhoe Place for 50m eastwards to facilitate footway maintenance works, Roads A and B will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over Roads A and B shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 26th May to 21st August 2026 (may continue until 21st February 2027).
Alternative route is via: U30027/10 Greenhoe Place, U30028 Mill Farm Nurseries, U30029 Southlands, C44 Cley Road, U33353 Haspalls Road, U30027/10 Greenhoe Place.
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: The closure/restriction over the Road A and Road B will only be in operation when signed on site.
Thurlton – C387 Low Road from its junction with C385 Church Road for 415m north-eastwards to facilitate installation of a new fibre network from 26th May to 1st June 2026 (may continue until 13th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Low Road, North End, Yarmouth Road, Church Road (Haddiscoe, Thurlton).
The works promoter is CityFibre Holdings Ltd.
NB: These works will take place in phases.
Phase 1 affecting C387 Low Road from its junction with C385 Church Road to its junction with U76357 Tithebarn Lane, and;
Phase 2 affecting C387 Low Road from its junction with U76357 Tithebarn Lane for 195m northwards. Only one phase will be in operation at any one time.
Woodton – C370 The Street from its junction with B1332 Norwich Road for 115m south-westwards to facilitate new fibre network installation works from 26th to 28th May 2026 (may continue until 9th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: B1332 Norwich Road, Hempnall Road, The Street.
The works promoter is CityFibre.
Wymondham – U78416 Sheffield Road from its junction with U71017 Lime Tree Avenue for 800m westwards to facilitate surface dressing works from 26th to 27th May 2026 (may continue until 8th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Sheffield Road, Hewitts Lane, Tuttles Lane East, Lime Tree Avenue.
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

Barton Bendish – C45 Eastmoor Road from 180m north of its junction with C45 Stoke Road for 575m northwards to facilitate construction plant movements. The Road will be temporarily subject to a 30mph speed restriction from 25th May to 4th September 2026 (may continue until 24th November 2027).
Alternative route is via: N/A.
The works promoter is Anglian Water.
Bircham – B1153 Docking Road from 120m north of its junction with U22332 Back Lane for 80m northwards to facilitate pole testing between 09:30 and 15:30 on 28th May 2026 (may continue until 9th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Docking Road, Stanhoe Road, Fakenham Road, High Street, Chequers Street, Bircham Road. (Docking, Bircham).
The works promoter is BT.
Burnham Market –
A) C479 Beacon Hill Road from 20m south of its junction with B1355 Creake Road for 275m southwards and;
B) U22243 Cambers Lane from its junction with C479 Beacon Hill Road for 5m westwards and C) U22369 Beacon Hill from its junction with C479 Beacon Hill Road for 5m westwards to facilitate replacement of overhead cables between 09:00 and 14:00 on 27th May 2026 (may continue until 8th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Beacon Hill Road, Stanhoe Road, West Street, Burnham Road, Creake Road (Burnham Market, North Creake, Burnham Thorpe).
The works promoter is UK Power Networks.
Clenchwarton –
A) C80 Main Road from 90m west of its junction with U21050 Rookery Road for 170m westwards and;
B) U21051 Hall Road from its junction with C80 Main Road for 5m northwards to facilitate carriageway resurfacing between 19:00 and 05:00 from 26th to 29th May 2026 (may continue until 10th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Hall Road, Bailey Lane, Mill Lane, Ferry Road, Main Road.
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
Docking – B1153 Church Place from its junction with B1454 Chequers Street for 110m northwards to facilitate carriageway patching between 09:00 and 15:00 from 26th to 27th May 2026 (may continue until 8th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Well Street, Chequers Street.
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
Emneth – C14 Ladys Drove from 50m south of its junction with C19 Walsoken Road for 50m southwards to facilitate fire hydrant repairs from 26th to 28th May 2026 (may continue until 9th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Ladys Drove, Walsoken Road, Edge Bank, Hungate Road (Walsoken, Emneth, Marshland St. James).
The works promoter is Anglian Water.
Methwold – B1160 College Road from its junction with C36 Broad Drove for 1250m northwards to facilitate surface dressing works between 21:30 and 05:00 from 29th May to 2nd June 2026 (may continue until 14th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: College Road, Wereham Bypass, Lynn Road, Downham Road, Bexwell Road, A10 Downham Eastern Bypass/Lynn Road/Fordham Bypass, Main Road, Feltwell Road, Decoy Road (Stradsett, Denver, Downham Market, Southery, Hilgay, Fordham, Wimbotsham, Ryston, West Dereham, Crimplesham, Wereham, Methwold). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: These dates include 2 contingency days in case of inclement weather.
Outwell – U21012 Mullicourt Road from 600m south-east of its junction with C5 Langhorns Lane for 30m south-eastwards to facilitate new water connection works from 27th to 29th May 2026 (may continue until 10th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Mullicourt Road, Downham Road, Langhorns Lane, Angle Road.
The works promoter is Anglian Water.
Snettisham – B1440 Lynn Road from its junction with U22261 Alma Road for 123m northwards to facilitate HRA patching repair works from 26th to 28th May 2026 (may continue until 9th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Lynn Road, Hunstanton Road, Dersingham Bypass, Snettisham Bypass (Snettisham, Ingoldisthorpe, Dersingham).
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
Southery – B1160 Westgate Street from its junction with B1160 Feltwell Road for 765m south-westwards to facilitate surface dressing works from 29th May to 5th July 2026 (may continue until 5th January 2027).
Alternative route is via: Feltwell Road, Decoy Road, College Road, Wereham Bypass, Lynn Road, Downham Road, Bexwell Road, Downham Eastern Bypass, Lynn Road, Main Road, Ely Road, Southery Bypass (Methwold, Stradsett, Denver, Downham Market, Hilgay, Fordham, Wimbotsham, Ryston, West Dereham, Crimplesham, Wereham, Southery).
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: Please note the works will be carried out in 3 phases:
Phase 1 is anticipated to be from 29th to 31st May 2026 (including 1 contingency day).
Phase 2 is anticipated to be from 18th to 19th June 2026 (including 1 contingency day).
Phase 3 is anticipated to be from 3rd to 5th July 2026 (including 2 contingency days).
Stradsett – A134 Lynn Road from its junction with A1122 Downham Road for 2785m northwards to facilitate resurfacing works from 26th May to 20th June 2026 (may continue until 20th December 2026).
Alternative route is via: Lynn Road, Stoke Road, Green Lane, A10 Stow Bardolph Bypass/Downham-Wimbotsham Bypass, Bexwell Road, Downham Road (Watlington, Stow Bardolph, Stradsett, Downham Market, Wimbotsham, Ryston, Crimplesham, Wormegay, Tottenhill, Shouldham Thorpe, Runcton Holme).
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: These works will take place in phases.
Phase 1 between 19:00 and 05:00 from 26th to 29th May 2026,
Phase 2 between 19:00 and 05:00 from 10th to 13th June 2026, and;
Phase 3 between 19:00 and 05:00 from 17th to 20th June 2026.
Upwell – U21023 Flint House Road/Cock Fen Road from its junction with B1094 Silt Road to its junction with U21022 Cock Fen Road to facilitate surface dressing works from 28th May to 2nd June 2026 (may continue until 14th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Silt Road, Main Road, Cock Fen Road.
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
Upwell – U21022 Cock Fen Road from its junction with A1101 Main Road to its junction with U21023 Cock Fen Road to facilitate surface dressing works from 28th May to 2nd June 2026 (may continue until 14th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: Cock Fen Road, Horsehead Drove, Main Road.
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
Walpole – The Marsh from 240m south of its junction with Marsh Road for 30m southwards to facilitate new water connection works from 26th to 28th May 2026 (may continue until 9th July 2026).
Alternative route is via: The Marsh, French’s Road, Wisbech Road, Marsh Road (Sutton Bridge, Walpole).
The works promoter is Anglian Water.
The team dealing with enquiries at Norfolk County Council is West Streetworks.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
