BASSETT ROAD AND OXFORD GARDENS ROAD HUMPS (REFERENCE: NCIL6 SH16 & SH17)
The Kensington and Chelsea (Prescribed Routes) (No. X) Traffic Order 202X
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Royal= Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) proposes, under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980, to construct the type of road humps know as “sinusoidal road humps” at the following locations in Bassett Road and Oxford Gardens (measurements are given from the centre line of the road hump).
(i) 4 metres (13ft) east of the common boundary Nos. 6 and 8 Bassett Road;
(ii) At the common boundary of Nos. 16 and 18 Bassett Road:
(iii) 3 metres (10ft) east of the common boundary of Nos. 21 and 23 Bassett Road;
(iv) At the common boundary of Nos. 36 and 38 Bassett Road;
(v) 4 metres (13ft) west of the common boundary of Nos. 46 and 48 Bassett Road;
(vi) 2 metres (7ft) east of the common boundary of Nos. 51 and 53 Bassett Road;
(vii) 4 metres (13ft) west of the common boundary of Nos. 60 and 62 Bassett Road;
(viii) 5 metres (16ft) east of the common boundary of Nos. 55 and 57 Oxford Gardens;
(ix) 7 metres (23ft) west of the common boundary of Nos. 61 and 63 Oxford Gardens;
(x) At the common boundary of Nos. 69 and 71 Oxford Gardens;
(xi) At the common boundary of Nos. 77 and 79 Oxford Gardens;
(xii) 3 metres (10ft) west of the common boundary of Nos. 85 and 87 Oxford Gardens;
(xiii) 3 metres (10ft) east of the common boundary of Nos. 99 and 101 Oxford Gardens; and
(xiv) At the common boundary of Nos. 107 and 109 Oxford Gardens.
[Note: Each “sinusoidal road hump” would be an elevated section of carriageway with a round top, 75mm millimetres higher at its highest point than the surrounding carriageway, approximately 9 metres wide and approximately 3.7 metres in length].
2. The road humps are being introduced as part of a scheme intended to reduce traffic speeds on the affected roads.

Further information, including a copy of plans, may be obtained via email by contacting trafficorders@rbkc. gov.uk or by contacting Allan Evans, Senior Traffic Engineer, by telephone on 07816 991 973 quoting reference “Road Humps on Bassett Road and Oxford Gardens” and can be inspected by appointment at Kensington Town Hall, Hornton Street, London, W8 7NX during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive.
4. Anyone wishing to support, object or to make any other representation with regards to the measures set out above, should send a statement in writing to that effect, and in the case of an objection, stating the grounds thereof, to the Council by email to: trafficorders@rbkc. gov.uk or by post to: Transportation and Highways, The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Kensington Town Hall, Hornton Street, London, W8 7NX, quoting reference “Road Humps on Bassett Road and Oxford Gardens (NCIL6 SH16 and SH17)” by 10th June 2026.
5. Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, any letter you write to the Council in response to this Notice may be made available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they so wished.
