What is happening?
THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
St Anns Road (D3002) Chertsey Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
On 20 May 2026 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) from entering or proceeding in that length of St Anns Road (D3002) Chertsey (also known as “Hamperstone Bridge”) as extends from its junction with (D3002) Twynersh Avenue and for a distance of 45 metres in a south westerly direction.
Alternative Route for pedestrians: Follow the Canal Path and across the unnamed footbridge to Twynersh Avenue then turn left along Twynersh Avenue. This Order is to facilitate concrete repairs to the bridge structure, dewatering works and/or temporary damming of the watercourse and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of Surrey County Council within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 7 weeks, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday only, within the 18-month period of operation of the Temporary Order that commences on 01 June 2026. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Due to the nature and location of the works there will be no access through the works area and pedestrians will be required to follow the signed diversion route. No sole access is affected by this closure.
Manor Way (D3187) Egham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
On 15 May 2026, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Manor Way (D3187) Egham as extends northwest from the northern boundary of 16 Manor Way to the end of the road (affecting the section with even numbers).
There is no alternative route for this closure.
This Order is required to enable Affinity Water to facilitate water mains repairs and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 1 June 2026 for 5 days between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times.
Gambles Lane (D237) Ripley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
On 15 May 2026, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Gambles Lane (D237) Ripley as extends from the access for Grove Heath Court and its junction with Grove Heath Road (D238).
Alternative route – Grove Heath Lane, B2215 (Portsmouth Road and High Street), Rose Lane and Hungry Hill Lane, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to enable Affinity Water to facilitate water main repairs and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 3 June 2026 for 3 days between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation for 24-hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services and residents will be provided either side of the works site but not through it. Access for pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and dismounted equestrians will be maintained at all times.
Northcroft Road (D3121) Englefield Green Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
On 20 May 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Northcroft Road (D3121) Englefield Green as extends from its junction with (D3111) Barley Mow Road to its junction with (D3121) Northcroft Road Footpath.
Alternative Route: Northcroft Road, Bond Street, (A328) St Judes Road, and Barley Mow Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate gas mains connection works for, or on behalf of Cadent Gas. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 15 days, between the hours of 8am and 6pm within the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 01 June 2026. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency services, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
Wisley Lane (D241) Wisley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Sections 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Wisley Lane (D241) Wisley as extends from its junction with Chittenden Close (X241) to the access for The Old Village Stores.
Alternative route – Wisley Lane, B2215 (Portsmouth Road and High Street), B367 (Newark Lane and Church Hill), Warren Lane, Pyrford Road, Lock Lane and Wisley Lane, or this route in reverse.
This Order is required to enable Openreach to facilitate pole testing and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 14 June 2026 for 1 day between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times.
Onslow Street (A322) (Friary Bridge) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
On 20 May 2026 Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) from entering or proceeding in that length of Onslow Street (A322) Guildford (also known as Friary Bridge) as extends from its junction with (A281) Millbrook to its junction with (A3100) Park Street. Alternative Route: (1) (A281) Millbrook, (A281) Quarry Street, (A281) Shalford Road, (A281) The Street, (A281) Horsham Road, (A248) Broadford Road, (A3100) Old Portsmouth Road, (A3100) Portsmouth Road, (A3100) Park Street; (2) Pedestrian Route: Onslow Street, Cycle Track Onslow Street, North Street, Onslow House Service Road, Friary Subway; (3) Portsmouth Car Park, Park Street Subway, Park Street, Bridge Street Subway, and Park Street/Cycle Infrastructure. This Order is to facilitate bridge bearing replacement works for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council.
These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 months, during the 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 01 June 2026. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Due to the nature of the works, there will be no access through the closure while works are in place, and all traffic (including pedestrians and dismounted cyclists), will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.
Seale Road (C21) Elstead Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
On 20 May 2026 Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of; (a) Seale Road (C21) Elstead as extends from its junction with (B3001) Farnham Road to its junction with the access to the property known as “Turners Farm”; (b) Suspend “The Surrey County Council Seale Road (C21) Elstead Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025” in its entirety. Alternative Route: Seale Road, Littleworth Road, Suffield Lane, Fulbrook Lane, and (B3001) Farnham Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate telecom pole replacement works for, or on behalf of Morrison Telecom Services Ltd. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day, between the hours of 8am and 6pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 02 June 2026. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, via the banksmen on site, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.
Various Roads in Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.3) 2026
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice. This Order is required to enable Winvic to facilitate resurfacing works, kerb installation works and/or road marking installation associated with the construction of a new junction, which is anticipated to be completed within 6 months, between 9pm and 6am, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 4 June 2026. Due to the nature of the works, access for emergency service vehicles will not be maintained and will be required to follow the diversion route. Residents will be escorted to their properties. Access for residents and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Schedule
1. that length of Hazel Avenue (D4025) Guildford which extends from its junction with Woking Road to its junction with Oak Tree Drive.
Alternative Route – Woking Road, Stoughton Road, Larch Avenue and Hazel Avenue;
2. that length of Jacobs Well Road (D51) Guildford which extends from its junction with Woking Road to its junction with White House Lane.
Alternative Route – Woking Road, Clay Lane and Jacobs Well Road;
3. the entire length of Woodlands Road (D4027) Guildford (Note: it is anticipated that the closure will be carried out in phases which will be confirmed on-site). Alternative Route – Woodlands Road, Old Farm Road and Woking Road;
4. that length of Woking Road (A320) Guildford which extends from its junction with Jacobs Well Road to its junction with Moorfield Road.
Alternative Route – Woking Road, Parkway A25, A3100, Epsom Road, The Street, Clandon Road, Send Barns Lane, Broadmead Road, High Street, Wych Hill Lane, Egley Road, Guilford Road, Woking Road.

Notice Of Confirmation Of Modification Orders Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
Rights of Way Definitive Map and Statement The Surrey County Council Footpath No.576 (Cranleigh) and Footpath No.565 (Alfold) Definitive Map
Modification Order 2024
On 1 May 2026 an Inspector appointed by The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed with modifications the above named Order, namely The Surrey County Council Footpath No.576 (Cranleigh) and Footpath No.565 (Alfold) Definitive Map Modification Order 2024. The Order modifies the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding thereto:
Adding a public footpath (No. 576 Cranleigh and No.565 Alfold), shown by a bold solid line on Drawing No. 3/1/5/H53, commencing as Footpath No. 576 (Cranleigh) at point A (GR 504055 138710) on Public Footpath 393 (Cranleigh) and proceeding along the field edge in a south-westerly direction for approximately 55 metres to point B where it joins the canal tow path and turns to run along the top of the tow path in a generally south easterly direction for approximately 510 metres to point C where is crosses the parish boundary and continues in a south westerly direction as Public Footpath No.565 Alfold for 90 metres to meet Public Bridleway 280a Alfold at point D.
The total distance A-B-C-D is 655 metres with a varying width of between 1.2m to 2m.

The Surrey County Council Footpath No.576 (Cranleigh) and Footpath No.565 (Alfold) Definitive Map Modification Order 2024 came into force on the date it was confirmed, namely 1 May 2026.
If any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 or on the ground that any requirement of the Act or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order he or she may under paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 to the Act within six weeks from the 22 May 2026 make an application to the High Court.
