CITY OF YORK COUNCIL

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 21 May 2026 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5) & (6). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12) and (13).

(1) MONKS CROSS LINK, YORK

This Order restricts vehicles to speeds no greater than 40 mph on Monks Cross Link, York (restricted roads) during the period when housing development works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Monday, 25 May 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 27 November 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.

(2) NORTH LANE, HUNTINGTON

This Order restricts vehicles to speeds no greater than 30 mph in those lengths of road on North Lane, Huntington on the North Lane road from its roundabout controlled junction with A1237 to the projected eastern boundary of property no. 35 (restricted roads) during the period when housing development works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 25 May 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 27 November 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.

(3) SANDY LANE, STOCKTON ON THE FOREST

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Sandy Lane, Stockton on the Forest between the junction with Holly Tree Garth and the junction with Hazelbush Lane (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Wednesday, 03 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Hazelbush Lane, A64, Stockton Lane.

(4) CHAPEL LANE, ASKHAM BRYAN

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Chapel Lane, Askham Bryan between the junction with York Road and the junction with Main Street (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0830hrs on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 and ending at 1630hrs on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0830hrs and 1630hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Road, Askham Field’s Lane, Main Street.

(5) SCRIVEN GROVE, HAXBY

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Scriven Grove, Haxby between its junction with Carmires Avenue and a location 100 metres east of said junction (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Thursday, 04 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services throughout the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(6) LINLEY AVENUE, HAXBY

This Order prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Linley Avenue, Haxby (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Friday, 29 May 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 08 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services throughout the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(7) PRECENTORS COURT, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Precentors Court, York between the junction with High Petergate and the projected south-eastern boundary of property No. 10 (closed road) during the period when filming works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1230hrs on Friday, 29 May 2026 and ending at 0001hrs on Sunday, 31 May 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 230hrs and 0001hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period via.

(8) WETHERBY ROAD, ACOMB

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Wetherby Road, Acomb between the junction with Bland Lane and a point 105 metres east of said junction (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Sunday, 31 May 2026 and ending at 0500hrs on Monday, 01 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 2000hrs and 0500hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Wetherby Road, York Road, Acomb Road, Poppleton Road, Boroughbridge Road and A1237.

(9) EASTERN TERRACE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Eastern Terrace, York between the junction with East Parade and a point 56 metres north of said junction (closed road) during the period when construction works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Monday, 01 June 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Tuesday, 07 July 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed throughout the works period. Access for residents and emergency vehicles will be always maintained. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via East Parade, Mill Lane, Heworth Green and Heworth Road.

(10) CALF CLOSE, HAXBY

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Calf Close, Haxby between the (i) projected northern boundary line of property No. 59 and a point 85 metres west of said location, (ii) between a point 20 metres east of the projected eastern boundary of property No. 99 and a point 54 metres south-eastern of said location (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 02 June 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 19 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed throughout the works period. Access for residents and emergency vehicles will be always maintained. There will not be an alternative route for diverted vehicles.

(11) EASTLANDS AVENUE, ACOMB

This Order will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Eastlands Avenue, Acomb between the projected north-eastern boundaries of property No’s. 11 and 17 (closed footpath) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Wednesday, 03 June 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Tuesday, 09 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the footpath will only be closed throughout the works period. Access for residents and emergencies will be maintained throughout. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Stones Close Footpath.

(12) THE SHAMBLES, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on The Shambles, York between its junctions with Newgate and Pavement (closed road) during the period when filming works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1800hrs on Thursday, 04 June 2026 and ending at 0200hrs on Friday, 05 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 1800hrs and 0200hrs each day of the works period. There will not be an alternative route for diverted vehicles during the works period.

(13) QUEEN STREET, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Queen Street, York between its junctions with Station Road and a location 65 metres north-west of its junction with Blossom Street (closed road) during the period when station gateway works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Monday, 01 June 2026 and ending at 0600hrs on Thursday, 25 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 2100hrs and 0600hrs each night of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Inner Ring Road. Pedestrian and cycle diversions will also be put in place.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
