What is happening?

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MIDDLESBROUGH (FOOTPATH MIDDLESBROUGH No.48) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

The Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough gives notice that it has made an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and any other enabling powers over an area of the highway described in the Schedule hereto because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road. An alternative route will be available for use while the Order is in force running from the existing bridleway at the rear of the former Poole Hospital Estate in a south westerly direction along the bridleway to a point to the rear of No 6 Sessay Grange, then in a north-north westerly direction along a tarmac path to Sessay Grange, then in a northerly direction following the footway along Sessay Grange and across Cotcliffe Way to a point outside No 16 Cottcliffe Way and then in a north easterly direction along the pavement then joining the footpath. The footpath will be closed from 27th May 2026 for six months. The Order may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport. Access will be maintained for any person being an owner, lessee, tenant or occupier of those premises adjoining the said length(s) of footpath.

SCHEDULE Existing route to be temporarily closed: The footpath runs in a north-westerly direction from the rear of the former Poole Hospital Estate at Grid Ref 453620 / 513753 for 150 meters to a point on the path at Grid Ref 453521 / 513867.
