Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL

(SPEED LIMITS) (CONSOLIDTAION) ORDER 2025
(AMENDMENT No.6) ORDER 2026

Notice is given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL hereby propose to make the above named Order under sections under Sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Paragraph 20 of Schedule 9 to the Act:

The effect of the Order will be to change the existing 30mph speed limit and implement a 20MPH speed limit on the following lengths of roads in Chartham Hatch, Canterbury:

BIGBURY ROAD – From its junction with Gravel Hill for a distance of 349 metres in a north easterly direction. DENSTEAD LANE – From its junction with Gravel Hill for a distance of 84 metres in a northerly direction. HOWFIELD LANE – From its junction with Gravel Hill for a distance of 461 metres in an easterly then south easterly direction. GRAVEL HILL – For its entire length. NEW TOWN STREET – From its junction with Howfield Lane for a distance of 292 metres in a southerly direction. NIGHTINGALE CLOSE – For its entire length. TOWN LANE - From its junction with Bigbury Road for a distance of 90 metres in a south westerly direction.

MAIDSTONE AREA

(AMENDMENT No.9) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council hereby proposes to make an Order under Sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which would be to reduce the current limit to 20MPH in Central Maidstone on the following length of roads:-

GABRIELS HILL, MARKET BUILDINGS & ROSE YARD – For their entire length. LOWER STONE STREET – From its junction with Gabriels Hill to its junction with Granada Street. WEEK STREET – From its junction with Station Road to its junction with King Street.

(AMENDMENT No.32) ORDER 2026

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is given that The Kent County Council, acting as the Local Traffic Authority, in exercise of its powers and under Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 19, 32, 35, 36, 45, 46, 47, 49, 53, 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (‘the Act’), the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby make the following order:-

The effect of the named Order is to place double yellow lines (No waiting at any time) on the following length of roads in Loose, Maidstone:-

LOOSE ROAD – (DYL) – On the north side from southern kerbline of Walnut Tree Avenue for a distance of 56 meters in a northerly direction. THE FARROWS – (DYL) – (1) On the north east side from the eastern boundary of 10 The Farrows for a distance of 26 meters in a westerly direction. (2) On the south west side from its junction with Pearce Gardens to a point 11 meters east and 11 meters west.

The Order was made on 21 May 2026 and its provisions will come into effect on 22 May 2026.

Anyone may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks of the date of publication of this Notice, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
