HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARES

Notice is hereby given that the Council proposes to vary the maximum fares for Hackney Carriages on or after 7 September 2026, as set out below:

Rate 1
Between the hours of 06:00 and 23:59
except Christmas and New Year’s Eve (from 18:00 to 23:59 only), Bank Holidays, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, New Years Day
Any distance up to 62.9 yards: £3.70
Each additional 62.9 yards: 10p*
*For vehicles licenced to carry 5 or more:
Each additional 62.9 yards: 15p

Rate 2
00:00 to 05:59 and on Bank Holidays, excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day :
Any distance up to 62.9 yards: £4.60
Each additional 62.9 yards: 15p*
*For vehicles licenced to carry 5 or more: Each additional 62.99 yards: 25p

Rate 3
Christmas Eve, New Years Eve (from 18:00 to 23:59 only) and Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day :
Any distance up to 62.9 yards: £6.00
Each additional 62.9 yards: 20p*
*For vehicles licenced to carry 5 or more: Each additional 62.9 yards: 30p

Waiting time:
Rate 1 = 10p for 15 seconds
Rate 2 = 15p for 22.5 seconds
Rate 3 = 20p for 30 seconds

Discretionary supplement for pre-booked journeys £10
This represents a ten percent increase in fares. Fares were last increased in 2022.

A copy of this Notice shall for the period of fourteen days from the date of publication be deposited at the offices set out below and shall at all reasonable hours be open to public inspection without payment. Any persons wishing to object to the proposed fares should submit their objection in writing, stating the grounds on which it is made to the undersigned by not later than 14 days from the date of this publication.
