TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Tyneside Council intends to make an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit driving on the following sections of road: Rear Of High St Salem St, Jarrow, from its junction with Salem St in a northerly direction for a distance of 25m. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be
executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable South Tyneside Council to carry out a concrete bay renewal. The Order will come into force on the 4/6/26. The maximum duration of the prohibition under this Order will be 18 mths however it is anticipated that the prohibition will only be needed from 9/6/26 for 9 days. All vehicles except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the road described above for the
duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be via Salem St, Hope St, Rear of High St & Salem Street & vice versa.
