What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (B6308 Medomsley Road, Consett) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026

The Council on 15/5/2026 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 415 metre length of the B6308 Medomsley Road, that extends north from the access to Glenroyd House/Rose Mount, Consett, including side road junctions to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the southern side of the closure from Medomsley Road south onto Station Road to A692, then north easterly on Rotary Way, then north and north west on A691 Villa Real Road, to the northern side of the closure and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence from 9am on Tuesday 26/5/2026 and are required for the duration of the works anticipated to be in 7 days (between the hours of Tue-Sat 9am to 3pm, and Mon 9.30am to 2.30 pm). On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
