What is happening?
HIGHWAYSACT 1980

EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER 2026 (ORDER 1);
AND
KIRKLEES COUNCIL(CAWLEY LANE TO CAPAS HEIGHTS WAY, HECKMONDWIKE)
PUBLIC PATH CREATION ORDER 2026 (ORDER 2)
The above orders made on the 13 May 2026 under Sections 118 and 26 of the Highways Act 1980 will have the following concurrent effects:
Order 1 will extinguish:
a) The full length and width of a section of an unrecorded restricted byway known as Robin Lane commencing on Cawley Lane at Grid Reference SE 2236 2318 (Point Aon the order map) and leading easterly for some 95 metres to its junction with Capas Heights Way at Grid Reference SE 2246 2317 (Point B on the order map).
b) The full length and width of a section of public footpath Heckmondwike 19 commencing on Cawley Lane at Grid Reference SE 2238 2316 (Point C on the order map) and leading north-westerly for some 20 metres to its junction with Robin Lane at Grid Reference SE 2237 2318 (Point D on the order map).
Order 2 will create an alternative public footpath in the town of Heckmondwike commencing on Cawley Lane at Grid Reference SE 2238 2316 (PointAon the order map) and leading north-easterly then easterly for some 76 metres to join Capas Heights Way at Grid Reference SE 2245 2318 (Point B on the order map).

Copies of the orders and order maps have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Heckmondwike Library, Walkley Lane, Heckmondwike WF16 0LY(during normal opening hours).
Copies of the orders and order plans may be obtained at standard library copying rates.
Any representations about or objections to either or both of these orders may be sent or delivered in writing addressed to Harry Garland, Kirklees Council Legal Services, PO Box 1720, Huddersfield HD1 9ELno later than 18 June 2026. You should quote reference HG/D112-353 and state the grounds on which your objection/representation is made.
If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn Kirklees Council may itself confirm the orders as unopposed orders. If the orders are sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the orders.
