The Council on 20/5/2026 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road as described. Temporary suspension of the following bays: the police bay, loading bay, and blue badge parking bays on North Road between the Bus Station exit and A690 North Road Roundabout, Durham as detailed in the County Council of Durham (Durham City (South West) (Parking and Waiting Restrictions) (Consolidation) Order No.1) 2021(Amendment Order No.1) Order 2024. The 36m length will be subject to a No waiting at any time restriction during the suspended period to enable bus station cladding works to be undertaken. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months.
The works which commenced on Monday 18/5/2026 by a temporary 5 day Notice, will continue from Saturday 23/5/2026 under this order and are required for the duration of the works, anticipated to be 38 weeks in total from Monday 18/5/2026. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
