(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road. A 230 metre length of Church Bank that extends westerly from the access to the Church car park, Shotley Bridge to enable footway resurfacing scheme works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the eastern side of the closure from Benfieldside Road north, then south west on B6310 Snows Green Road to the western side of the closure. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on Monday 8/6/2026 and the duration of the works are anticipated to be 3 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
