READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(NELSON ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays and impose a no waiting or loading/unloading at any time restriction from 11-17 Nelson Rd. The Order will come into force from 1-3 June 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow loading of heavy apparatus required on site.

(FOOTPATH 1 (PART)) (TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council has made the above Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The effect of the Order is to close Footpath 1, Thames Path between Lynmouth Road and Christchurch Bridge for a distance of approximately 90m. To purpose of the closure is to enable construction of a storm water outfall from the proposed development Works are intended to commence between 1st June 2026 for the duration of one working week. The Order will come into operation from 1-5 June 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will continue in force until the works are completed with a maximum duration of up to 6 months unless a direction is given under Section 15(5) of the 1984 Act. The proposed diversion route is via Lynmouth Road to Vastern Road (approx. 160m), continuing along Vastern Road in an easterly direction (approx. 175m) to Norman Place then following the diversion signs along Norman Place in a northerly direction (approx. 110m) to rejoin the Thames Path. Access to Christchurch Bridge will be retained from the east side of the bridge only.

(BROOK ST WEST) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily:

• Close the length of road from 46-62 Brook St West;

• Suspend the parking bays outside 42-46 and 62-66 Brook St West; and

• Impose a no stopping or waiting or loading/unloading at any time restriction from 42-46 and 62-66 Brook St West except by Virgin Media, or their contractors.

The Order will come into force from 26-27 May 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate repairs. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.

(ALPINE ST) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays and impose a no waiting or loading/unloading at any time restriction from outside 50-66 and 59-81 Alpine St. The Order will come into force from 3-5 June 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow loading of heavy apparatus required on site.

(BUS LANES) (BUS SERVICES IMPROVEMENT) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council under Sections 1(1), 2(1), 3, 4(2), 45 and 46 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Paragraph 20 of Schedule 9 to the Act as amended proposes to make the above Order.

The general nature and effect of the Order will be to amend The Borough of Reading (Bus Lanes) (Bus Services Improvement) Order 2024 by:

• Deleting the entry relating to Bath Road (A4) (outbound) the bus lane description relating to Bath Road (A4) (outbound) contained in the Schedule to that Order as this bus lane will no longer be coming forward, namely, Bath Road (A4) – The area of the carriageway from a point approx. 50m west its junction with Circuit Lane to a point approx. 570m west of that junction. (outbound)

• The plans listed in the Schedule to this Order are hereby incorporated into and shall form part of the Borough of Reading (Bus Lanes) (Bus Services Improvement) Order 2024.

• The plan relating to the Southampton Street/Oracle Roundabout bus lane arrangement, drawing number BSIP STN-HGN-DR-CH-001 REV 02, is revoked and replaced by drawing number 332610619-STN-HGN-SSK-CH-0104.

The amendments shown on drawing number 332610619-STN-HGN-SSK-CH-0104 does not alter the provisions relating to the bus lane restriction but reflect a revised layout utilising the existing circulatory lane rather than constructing a new dedicated lane.

Please note that in accordance with the current freedom of information legislation, the Council may publish and/or disclose the entire content of any correspondence (including letter, forms or emails) sent in response to this Notice and such responses may be subject to public scrutiny.
