What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (OLD SCOTCH ROAD, OLD TOWN) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of Old Scotch Road, Old Town from its junction with the U5385, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 780 metres.
A suitable alternative route for all traffic will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of Old Scotch Road, C5078, C5077 and the B6254.

The Order will come into operation on 8th June 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 6 weeks and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
