What is happening?

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC THWAITE STREET LEVEL CROSSING, COTTINGHAM (PART)

Notice is hereby given that East Riding of Yorkshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along Thwaite Street Level Crossing, Cottingham commencing 3 June 2026 until 4 June 2026 (between 23.30 hours until 06.00 hours) to enable plain line tamping works.

The road closure is necessary to enable the works to be carried out in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public. The Order is valid for 18 months, but it is anticipated that the works will be completed by Thursday 4 June 2026.

The alternative route for traffic affected by the road closure will be via Thwaite Street, Newgate Street, South Street, Baynard Avenue, West End Road, Northgate, New Village Road and Thwaite Street Roundabout, Cottingham. The diversion route will be signed at the time of closure. The road will be closed to all traffic but access will be maintained for emergency vehicles.
