Dorset - Temporary Road Closures and 20mph Speed Limit Order

What is happening?

Temporary Trasc Management Order,
Various Roads, Ferndown

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Trasc Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 15th June 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 4th July 2026.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.

The effect of this Order is as follows:

[i] To impose a temporary road closure on New Road, Ferndown; Ringwood Road, Ferndown and Turbury Road, Ferndown as indicated by signs on site.

[ii] To impose a clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along New Road, Ferndown; Ringwood Road, Ferndown and Turbury Road, Ferndown.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable trasc to travel around the closed sections.

(20mph Speed Limit) (No. 14) Order 2026

Dorset Council in partnership with Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council has made an Order under the Road Trasc Regulation Act 1984 as amended.

When the Order comes into operation on 30th May 2026 the effect of the Order will be to introduce new lengths of 20mph speed limits along various roads in Upton.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provisions contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Trasc Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any Instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order you may within six weeks of the date of this Notice apply to the High Court for that purpose.
