What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 16A
THE A69 TRUNK ROAD (NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY SHOW) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A69 Trunk Road, in the County of Northumberland, for the purpose of facilitating the Northumberland County Show.
The Order starts at 6am and ends at 7pm on Saturday 23 May 2026, continuing as necessary to facilitate the event.
The effect of the Order will be to impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A69 westbound carriageway from 1400 metres east of Shaw House Junction westwards for a distance of 1900 metres.
It will also be necessary to:
(i) close the gaps in the central reservation opposite its junction with the C251, the B6309 and the C254; and
(ii) ban vehicles from leaving the A69 westbound carriageway at its junction with the C251.
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restriction (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said event or for traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 22 May 2026 and will remain in force for as long as is necessary to facilitate the event.
