What is happening?

NEATH PORT TALBOT COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL
CYNGOR BWRDEISTREF SIROL CASTELL-NEDD PORT TALBOT (VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN PORT TALBOT) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council intend in not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding along the lengths of roads set out in the Schedule below whilst the Order is in force. During such periods as are indicated by traffic signs informing the public that the roads are closed.

The Order is necessary to enable National Grid to carry out civil engineering works and the Highway Authority to carry out any ancillary highway maintenance works in the roads.

The Order will come into force on the 8th June 2026 and shall continue in force for a maximum duration of 18 months, or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner.

It is envisaged the works will take 2 months to complete.

SCHEDULE

From between numbers 12 to number 20 King Street and the lane to the rear of 23 to 30 Ynys Street, will be closed from its junction with Dan Y Bryn Road in an easterly direction for a distance of 200m along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected section of the lane to the rear of 23 to 30 Ynys Street, Ynys Street and Dan Y Bryn Road Port Talbot.

From between numbers 1 to 11 King Street will be closed from its junction with Dan Y Bryn Road in a westerly direction for 70m along its length.The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Forge Road, Ynys Street and Dan Y Bryn Road Lane between numbers 23 and 24 Oakwood Street will be closed from its junction with Oakwood Street in an easterly direction for 20m along its length.

The alternate route for vehicular traffic will be via Oakwood Lane and Oakwood Street.

Tydraw Street will be closed from its junction with Oakwood Street in a northerly direction for 75m along its length.

There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic.

Courtland Place will be closed from its junction with Tydraw Street in a westerly direction for 20m along its length.

There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic

Lane to the Rear of numbers 1 to 48 Tydraw Street will be closed from its junction with Courtland Place in a northerly direction for 200m along its length.

There is no suitable alternative route for vehicular traffic.

For all the above closures access will be maintained for pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
