Temporary Road Closure Order

South Lanarkshire Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and of all other enabling powers, has made the following Order:-

This Order may be cited as “South Lanarkshire Council, A726 (Glasgow Road), Strathaven, Temporary Road Closure Order” and shall come into operation between 8am 16 June 2026 and 8pm 20 June 2026. The restrictions will be applied on site by the display of traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

The restrictions imposed by this Order shall apply to three separate sections of road as detailed in Schedules 1 to 3. Only one section shall be closed at any one time, with the extents of each closure indicated by the display of traffic signs on site.

Whilst this order remains in force no person shall park, drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle on the sections of road specified in Schedule 1 by reason carriageway maintenance.

Nothing in Article 2 of this Order shall prevent the driving upon the said road by any vehicle which is being used in connection with the carriageway maintenance or by emergency service vehicles.

A726 (Glasgow Road), Strathaven, between Thorn Highway and 29 Glasgow Road

Schedule 3 – Temporary Road Closure – A726 (Glasgow Road), Strathaven
A726 (Glasgow Road), Strathaven, between Mounthilly Road and Coldstream Highway 

Alternative Route Via A726, A723, A72, A724, A725, A726 and vice versa
