What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Footpath 20, Brentwood) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 20. in the Borough of Brentwood, from its junction with Crow Green Lane to its junction with Beads Hall Lane (Byway 4) for approximately 700 metres.

Diversion will be via: Crow Green Lane, Hatch Road, Beads Hall Lane and vice versa.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 25 May 2026 to 26 June 2026 where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public, while ditch and path reinstatement works are undertaken. 

The Order will come into effect on 25 May 2026 may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Mill Lane, Navestock) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mill Lane, Navestock in the Borough of Brentwood, from its junction with Shonks Mill Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south westerly direction. 

The closure is scheduled to commence on 16th June 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410271518 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water main repair works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Shonks Mill Road, Church Road, Bounce Hill and vice versa (with access only into Mill Lane).

The Order will come into effect on 27th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Ongar Road, Stondon Massey) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ongar Road, Stondon Massey in the Borough of Brentwood, from a point approximately 1070m north west of the junction with Chivers Road for a distance of approximately 630m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th June 2026 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30055996935 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Ongar Road, Tipps Cross Lane, Hook End Road, Blackmore Road, Ongar Road, Brentwood Road, Stondon Road, Ongar Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 27th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Weald Road, Brentwood) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Weald Road, Brentwood in the Borough of Brentwood, from its junction with Bardeswell Crescent for a distance of approximately 85m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th June 2026 for 7 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02299890482 – A1 Traffic Safety). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while wall rebuilding works are undertaken by A1 Traffic Safety.

An alternative route is available via Weald Road, Coxtie Green Road, Ongar Road, Shenfield Road, Ingrave Road, Queens Road, Kings Road, Weald Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 27th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Doddinghurst Road, Doddinghurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Doddinghurst Road, Doddinghurst in the Borough of Brentwood, from a point approximately 175m north west of its junction with Hall Lane for a distance of approximately 815m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th June 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008OGEAA3536310SB – Openreach Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Doddinghurst Road, Days Lane, Crow Green Road, Crow Green Lane, Hatch Road, Doddinghurst Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 13th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Widvale Road, Mountnessing) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Widvale Road, Mountnessing in the Borough of Brentwood, from a point approximately 550m north west of the junction with Arnolds Farm Lane for a distance of approximately 45m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st June 2026 for 1 night (22:00-06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (KL701LTN1-21-44-010626 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). 
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bridge examination works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Widvale Road, Wash Road, Rayleigh Road, Hutton Road, Chelmsford Road, Chelmsford Road Roundabout, Roman Road, Widvale Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 13th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
