What is happening?

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF AN ORDER
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

North East Lincolnshire Council
Public Footpath Humberston No. 53 Extinguishment Order 2025

On 13th May 2026, North East Lincolnshire Council confirmed the above order made under section 118 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect Order confirms the following:

(i)That part of Public Footpath number 53, Humberston that commencing from Queen Elizabeth Road at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference TA530625, 405941 and leading in a south eastly direction for approximately 156 metres to the junction of Queen Elizabeth Road and Stephen Crescent at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference TA530716, 405813.

(ii) That part of Public Footpath number 53, Humberston that commencing from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference TA530893, 405320 which leads in a south south easterly direction for approximately 49 metres to Humberstone Avenue at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference TA530908, 40527.

For the avoidance of doubt this Public Footpath will be extinguished from the Definitive Map.

A copy of the Order and the Order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Municipal Offices, Town Hall Square, Grimsby during normal office hours Monday to Friday.

Copies of the Order and map may be bought there at a price of £10.

The Order comes into force on 13th May 2026, but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 13th May 2026 make an application to the High Court.
